Luigi Ciraolo, scientific advisor
He worked as CNR researcher at IFAC (formerly IROE) from 1969 to 2006, continuing the activity after retirement with colleagues of ICTP and INGV.
The main activity was the scientific application of satellite navigation systems, first to "Satellite Geodesy" using the Navy Navigation Satellite System (NNSS), then to Ionspheric studies, using still the NNSS, but in major extent the Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS, such as GPS and GLONASS).
In this frame, he investigated one of the essential points of ionospheric work, i.e. the capability to evaluate the biases affecting the dual frequency observations setting up some software package able to perform satisfactorily at middle geomagnetic latitudes, but still needing some improvement for the low ones.
